YEAR 2000
Medical and Computer Science students are rotating in USA inside of the ASKLEPIOS program for Telemedicine training at the universities of Yale, Howard - Washington and Missouri to protagonize unique experiences.
August 3rd 2000: 5th course Medicine students Rodrigo Abreu and Natalia Hernandez de León participate in an experimental connection inside of the NASA - M.A.R.S. program for astronauts. The connection, directed by Brett Harnet from the NASA, was made to Doven Island operational headquarters, in the North Pole. Through the Web the vital constants of two researchers in the North Pole, wearing vital signals control devices were displayed. Those devices transmitted each 30 seconds with a retard of 20 minutes to simulate the real retardof the Mars connection. They discuss an urgent clinical case, having a visual and electronic contact of the patient data, his clinical chart and a satellite view of the operational headquarters.
